Aim

To prepare pupils who will be sitting the main GCSE examination papers in summer 2014. Pupils’ knowledge and understanding will be consolidated through the provision of vocabulary in context and through study of the specific strategies and techniques required for successful comprehension of written and spoken Spanish at this level. Where necessary, this course will reinforce grammatical knowledge of the language in preparation for AS level Spanish or higher level Spanish studies. The course is only suitable for candidates entered for the Higher Tier in GCSE Spanish (grades A* to C).

Key Topics Covered

Pupils will have the opportunity for extensive practice of the four skills within each of the five GCSE “Areas of Experience”. Knowledge of relevant topic –based vocabulary and appropriate idiomatic expressions will be consolidated:

  • Education, training and employment
  • House, home and daily routine
  • Media, entertainment and youth culture
  • Social activities, fitness and health

  • Impersonal verbs (eg: gustar)

The use of past papers of all boards (adapted where appropriate) will be extensive, to reinforce technique and heighten confidence.
